The Temple House is a luxurious 16,350 square foot building in South Beach. It was originally designed and constructed in 1933 as a single-family residence by world famous Art Deco architect L. Murray Dixon.
In 2003, the property was renovated to maintain the architectural features and make necessary upgrades. It is now available for private events. Now onto the lovely images!

Above is a photo from our recent vacation in Sedona, Arizona. There is a place called Buddha Beach where you can witness in awe thousands of stacked rock sculptures near a Vortex site at the Red Rock Crossing in Sedona. It was amazing! I love Sedona!

These are some detail shots from the room... Some inspiring figurines, a pagoda mirror, a Ukiyo-E Japanese Wood Block Print (thrift find!), and a kimono fabric scrap that I plan to make into a pillow...
In the crib you can see a teal and lime colored "Tummy Time Play Mat" that I will be using as a changing pad at first. I think it's so cute and practical and it has a measuring tape printed on it so I can watch our baby boy grow in length right before my eyes! On top of the play mat is a brown Boppy Noggin Head Support that prevents the baby from having a flat head. The crib is outfitted with an organic cotton flannel sheet and a Nojo fleece sheet saver from Target.
Anxiously awaiting the arrival of the baby are two friends, a Yomiko Classics baby panda, and a homemade doll (made by my friend's aunt) swaddled in a Kiddopotamus bamboo fabric swaddle blanket. Also pictured is the Utterly Yours Pregnancy Pillow (folds into a square) that I used for a bit, and a hand crocheted baby blanket from my cousin! These things will be removed when the baby comes because it is much safer for the him to be in a crib without extra things like pillows, dolls and crib bumpers (prevents suffocation and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
This is the adult side of the room. In case you haven't noticed, the bed wall and ceiling is painted a chocolate brown and gives us a sense of privacy and intimacy, while the rest of the walls are painted a neutral khaki color. The bedroom artwork consists of Chinese scrolls and artwork I've found over the years at various antique stores. We didn't have it in the budget to buy a new bed, so we updated our existing Ikea rattan frame by staining it dark brown. I really love how our bedroom turned out! Can't wait until our boy can enjoy it too!

I was looking for some modern rugs with flair for my soon to be master bedroom/nursery for my first baby and was directed to a wonderful selection of literally thousands of contemporary rugs at CSN Rugs! The styles shown here are from the Chandra Avalisa Collection and the Surya Dharma Collection. Other noteworthy designer rugs that I found at CSN are from Calvin Klein, Thomas Paul, Karim Rashid, and Koko Company (for funky outdoor rugs). What a great decorator resource!

I saw this wire momentum bowl in the Crate and Barrel catalog and just love the idea of an organic style wedding centerpiece using orchids, spongy moss and a see-through basket (that you could give away to guests). For a rustic look you could make your own basket out of chicken wire. For a modern look, scout your home improvement center for mesh you could spray paint and mold into your own shape. You can purchase the orchid potted plants in bulk at Aloha Orchid and the reindeer moss at Save-On-Crafts.

It's a wonderful miracle when you discover that someone you know has been honing their creative and artistic talent right under your nose! I have known Junko Yamamoto for a few years now in the Seattle event industry, but I had no idea that she was an artist! Junko will be having a solo show featuring the "Shunyata Series" at Gallery IMA during the month of June. Shunyata means "emptiness" in Sanskrit. To learn more about the inspiration for this body of work, make sure to read her artist statement... it's very inspiring! I'm definitely loving the one with the talk bubble as artwork for our nursery... the empty talk bubble is asking me "Will it be a boy or will it be a girl?" hee hee!

I saw this lovely bedroom photo over at An Indian Summer. I love the calm neutral colors, the stone like walls, the carved lantern, and the framed Asian advertisement art/poster. You can find a smaller version of a lotus teak panel like this one at Viva Terra.
As an Ikebana practitioner, when I saw this Grid Vase by Spanish designer Jaime Hayón my eyes grew wide with the possibilities! Wouldn't these animal prints be inspiring for you and your baby! I love Paul Johnson's style with his rough abstraction, colorful ink pen style and attention to patterns in relation to the animal skins and as a nod to geometry and decor. You could definitely build a whole theme for a kids room or nursery around these awesome prints!
Edgewater, an artisan tile company based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has just launched Connectables, a new line of gorgeous glass tiles. The Connectables line offers classic, seamless patterns, that can be back-painted to match any paint swatch, in clear gloss or matte finishes! I love this Moroccan style design! I want mine in dark pink! What extraordinary texture and detail these glass tiles will convey in person! I'm definitely keeping this in mind for my next re-decor project. Today I went to the Pacific Market Center and attended a seminar by Leatrice Easeman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
It just so happens that Leatrice lives near Seattle, on Bainbridge
Island, which is just a short ferry ride from the Seattle waterfront. During
her talk, Leatrice said the color brown will not be going away (yay!)
and that yellow is the new "it" color for this year. She also mentioned purple and orange as being important.
The Home forecast she presented had several themes but the "Wanderings" theme captured my heart. You can watch an abbreviated version of the Color Forecast here.

Having worked at Glenn Richards, an Asian Antiques store in Seattle, I saw many kitchen, bath and TV console projects using Japanese Mizuya Tansu and Chinese Elm cabinets ...but this one featuring Greentea Design really takes the cake! I have been following Kim's Kitchen Remodel (Kim's from Desire to Inspire) and I'm totally head over heels for the final reveal! I love the fulfilling combination of global design and modern classics! I can't wait to redo my kitchen...

Subtle, caring and functional is how I would describe these lovely ceramic "hand" bowls by Japanese design firm Tonerico. I wish I could find these stateside as they are inspiring my Thanksgiving decor...which is beginning to look like white tablescapes, with lots of organic materials like branches and dried foliage and pops of persimmon, plum, lemon and sage green... See last year's Thanksgiving Decor which shared a similar palette but with more of a retro modern feel.
